The survey regarding Eudora's future as part of the comprehensive plan process has reached over 800 responses, Assistant City Manager Leslie Herring told the Eudora City Commission at its Monday meeting.

As of the meeting time, the survey had 809 responses. According to the survey results, 87.5% of the responses were from Eudora residents. Herring said this number of responses is impressive for a community of Eudora's size.

"That response rate is off the charts," Herring said. "The comprehensive plan process is going really well and part of that is because of you all spreading the word about our process and asking people to do the survey."

The survey's deadline has been extended to midnight Friday and can be taken here.

"I think that's great," Mayor Tim Reazin said. "I think we should still try to share that information."

City staff also held two community focus groups over the comprehensive plan last week and will do three this week.

"I'd like to say the town hall meeting went exceptionally well," Vice Mayor Ruth Hughs said about last week's public meeting. "I was just so pleased with the way it was done. Every seat was filled. I was impressed."

Herring also informed the commission the Bluejacket Park Trail may be of interest to the Kansas Historical Society because of possible archeological finds in the area.

"Either from the Indian tribes that have come through the area or from settlers or from even prehistory," Herring said.

She said the Kansas Historical Society uses an internal flagging system to keep an eye on different projects of interest. Bluejacket Park Trail was of interest due to its proximity to the Wakarusa River, where native tribes may have lived in the past.

"Hopefully we can move that project back up once they are able to give their clearance for the site," Herring said. "I'm kind of thinking they find something cool and put us on the map."
