The city of Eudora will soon hire a new assistant city manager.
Applications for the vacant position closed last Friday and are under review. The position received more than 100 applicants, some of which city management analyst Jeff Rhodes said will be contacted for interviews in the coming weeks.
The position opened after previous assistant city manager Leslie Herring resigned in April. Herring held the position for four years and was the city's second assistant city manager.
The assistant city manager reports to the city manager on assignments, including human resources operations, city project development and evaluation of city operations. The position also includes supervision of the city clerk's office, municipal court, building and codes office, and planning and zoning office. It has a starting wage of $74,000.
The posting notes the city is looking for a candidate with “an open and collaborative management style” and “a keen sense of organization and community development.”
"Right now, the tentative timeline is to have them on board in March," Rhodes said. "But that might get delayed a little bit just because of the volume."
