All Eudora Schools will begin in-person learning five days per week starting Monday, Superintendent Steve Splichal announced in an email Thursday afternoon.
The change follows Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health placing the county in the "Green" phase for school reopening guidance. The green phase allows in-person learning with standard COVID-19 mitigation practices in place, such as wearing masks.
“The opportunity to return to in-person learning on a full-time basis has been a long time coming,” Splichal wrote in an email to the district’s families. “We also understand that our efforts to mitigate must continue.”
Families who wish to remain remote can continue to do so, according to the email.
If a family who was previously remote wishes to return to in-person instruction Monday instead of waiting until March 29, they can contact their child’s principal.
Building principals will have more information in the coming days regarding the specifics for next week, Splichal said.
Douglas County had 391 active cases of the coronavirus Thursday, according to Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health.
