Eudora teachers paraded throughout the city Sunday afternoon to show local students that they are thinking of them while school is closed due to the coronavirus.
Elementary music teacher Rebecca Killen organized the Teacher Parade after seeing a post of a similar event on Facebook. “I thought, I wish someone would organize that in Eudora, and then I thought, why not just do it?” Killen said.
“I think it’s going to be good,” fifth grader Tucker Perry said while waiting to see his teachers parade through his neighborhood.
Joanne and Chloe Brinsfield wait with their sign to “show teachers how much we appreciate them and love them” during the Teacher Parade.
Preschooler and fourth grader Nia and Jada Johnson eagerly wait to cheer on their teachers as they drive by.
Eudora Middle School para Wendy Gales hoped to show students through the parade that faculty still cared about them while responsibly practicing social distancing, she said.
