Ammunition Plant Presentation: The Eudora Historical Society will host a presentation on the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant at 7 p.m. March 19 at the Eudora Community Center. The ammunition plant opened in 1942 just east of Eudora and produced smokeless powder and propellent used by the U.S. military during World War II. The plant employed over 12,000 people, tripling Eudora’s population. The plant closed in 1992. Former Sunflower employees are invited to share their personal experiences at the event.
Legislative Forum: Eudora residents are invited to join Rep. Eileen Horn, D-Lawrence, Rep. Jim Karlskint, R-Tonganoxie, and Sen. Tom Holland, D-Baldwin City, for discussion on the 2020 legislative season. The event will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. March 29 at the Eudora Community Center.
Craft Show: Treasure Market will host its spring craft show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 4 at the Eudora Rec Center. The event will feature a number of vendors, such as Scentsy, Lularoe and Origami Owl. Ed-Tec Fundraiser: The Eudora-De Soto Technical Education Center will host its sixth annual fundraiser car show April 4 at Eudora High School. The fundraiser will also feature an open house auction, an FFA labor auction and a barbecue. A donation is asked for the car show entry fee and the auction will begin at noon.
Autism Walk: Eudora ACES will hold its 10th annual Autism Awareness Walk and Family Fun Day from 1 to 3 p.m. April 4 in CPA Park. This will be the group’s final event and is a way to celebrate the impact it has had on the community, schools and children. Activities will be set up throughout the park and the group will be accepting donations. The theme this year is “You Will Never Walk Alone.

We also will accept birth announcements, engagement/marriage/anniversary announcements, high school and college graduation announcements, and pet news. Pet news could include announcement of a new pet, a story about a pet or an obituary for a pet. The cost of these various announcements will be $20 each, which includes a photo submission. The fee is to support personnel who must prepare this information for publication.
