After facing significant issues as Kansas residents try to file for unemployment,
Secretary of Labor Delía García announced Thursday a new system for filing claims.
The effort to reduce the burden on the unemployment benefits system should ensure that claimants can file in a timely manner, and the system can handle the volume, according to a Labor Department news release.
The above graphic explains the new gating system for filing weekly claims. The Labor Department has faced frequent complaints in recent days from unemployed Kansans struggling to get through on phone lines or to access its website as the system experiences unprecedented demand.
“Thank you for your patience as we continue to work together to get your benefits to you,” García said in a statement.
