STAFF REPORTS
A camp for kids with cancer and another camp for siblings of kids with cancer will not meet in person this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Camp Hope and Camp SIBsational will instead be replaced with Kamp KyMel, a virtual camp that kids can attend from their homes.
This alternate camp will include crafts, photography, art contests, games and the traditional talent show and dance, according to a news release from the KyMel Inc. board of directors.
“This is by far the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make,” said Gail Moeder, vice president of KyMel Inc. “Camp Hope has been held every summer since 1983. This would have been the second year for Camp SIBsational, and we hate to lose momentum, but it is the right decision. The safety of our campers and families is most important.”
